Vintage Japanese Black Lacquer Papier Mache Keepsake or Trinket Box

Mid-20th century Japanese Papier Mache decorative keepsake box with a traditional high gloss black lacquer finish. Standing approximately 2" in height, the box measures 5.25" square, and is enhanced with a foliate design decoupage style decoration on the cover. Expected light surface scratching and shelf wear is seen on close inspection, as well as a couple of corner bumps near the base that have been carefully concealed over time. These are not noticeable or distracting. Otherwise, the box is in clean, very good condition with no chips, cracks, or other compromising imperfections found. Wear is commensurate for age and history of use so please regard the photos as they form a descriptive part of the listing.
