Pre-owned, Vodrey China platter. Fish. Coy? ANTIQUE VODREY CHINA is one of the very early "East Liverpool Potteries” of East Liverpool, Ohio. During the 18th and 19th centuries the area was known as the “Pottery Capitol of the USA”. VODREY was one of the rare potteries and was founded by Jabez Vodrey (1795 – 1861). Jabez was the first English potter West of the Appalachian Mountains. From 1857 – 1864, it was known as VODREY BROS.; from 1864 – 1896, as VODREY BROTHER POTTERY; and from 1896 – 1928 it was known as VODREY POTTERY. Not positive of the dating of this piece but that was just some information I obtained. This piece has some substantial weight and shows some wear.
