The NETGEAR XSM4316-100NES is a 16 port 10 gigabit managed switch built for demanding audio and video over IP installations as well as everyday data traffic. It brings together high bandwidth, multicast awareness, and straightforward configuration so integrators can focus on the signal flow, not the network.
The front panel offers eight RJ45 ports that deliver 10 gigabit Ethernet over copper cabling and eight SFP+ slots that accept fiber modules for longer runs or uplinks. Each interface operates at up to 10 gigabits per second, and the switch backs them with 320 gigabits per second of switching capacity and a forwarding rate of 238.08 million packets per second, so even full-resolution video streams move without bottlenecks.
The chassis occupies only half of a standard rack unit. You can mount two units side by side in a single RU to create load sharing or add redundancy without sacrificing extra rack space. An optional redundant power supply adds another layer of protection for critical venues.
IGMP Plus is onboard and ready to manage multicast traffic automatically. With this feature enabled, video sources reach every subscribed display without manual VLAN assignments or complex command-line work, which is especially useful for digital signage networks, live event staging, broadcast control rooms, and classroom AV systems.
Initial setup is quick through the NETGEAR Engage Controller. Preconfigured AV profiles apply the recommended settings for Dante, NDI, or other common protocols with a few clicks, and an intuitive interface keeps ongoing monitoring simple for support staff.
The switch handles both Layer 2 switching and Layer 3 routing, so it can stay inside a dedicated AV subnet or act as the gateway for a wider facility network. Nonstop forwarding maintains traffic during firmware upgrades, and a selectable Quiet Mode lowers fan speed for noise-sensitive spaces such as conference rooms, houses of worship, or edit suites.
